Stranded In Cape Town, SA

You may have read or seen on the television that Wynne’s travel plans, like so many others, have been disrupted by the eruption of Eyjafjallajokull, Wynne said ‘I have been in Cape Town for the last couple of weeks, filming some ne GoCompare commercials.when the shoot finished last week I was due to fly home but obviously because of Eyjafjallajokull’s volcanicactivity that wasn’t possible. The guys at GoCompare have been working hard to get us home but it’s just not been possible.’ Wynne was due to sing the final performance of the tour of Seraglio for Welsh National Opera on Tuesday of this week, he said ‘I was particularly disappointed to not get back for the show in Bristol for a number of reasons firstly its been a fantastic production to work on and it’s always nice to say goodbye to colleagues before we all get flung to the far corners of the world, secondly I love being at WNO so its diapointing not to see those people and FinallyI love the theatre in Bristol, it really has a fantastic acoustic and so it’s a great place to sing’ Wynne added ‘I have to thank everyone here in Cape Town for looking after me so well and also to all the people back at GoCompare in Newport for sending lots of love and positive thoughts! I’ll be back next week and straight into rehearsals for Grange Park’

Great Ormond Street Hospital Comedy Night

Wynne is delighted to be Involved in the Great Ormond Street Hospital Comedy Night on Channel 4this Monday. ‘Great Ormond Street  Hospital is such a fantastic place and does such amazing work that I was delighted to give my time to help such a worthwile place’ Wynne remade one of the GoCompare.com ads with comic Jimmy Carr ‘Jimmy and I had great fun re-making the ad, I’m a huge fan of his and knowing that Great Ormond Street was benifitting just made it twice as good’ I think you’ll agree Wynne’s sense of fun is clear to see and good luck Great Ormond Street.

Classical relief for Haiti

Wynneis delighted to be involved in the new recording of ‘The Prayer’ recorded in aid of the Haiti disaster. For the very first time in the classical music world, musicians, tenors, baritones and sopranos from across the country joined forces for a ‘Classical Band Aid’ to record and release a classical single on behalf of the people of Haiti. Wynne said ‘I was delighted to have the opportunitytocontribute in this single and help such a worthwhile cause’ he added ‘When i saw the pictures of the Haiti disaster on the television it was heart breaking and like everyoneelseyou want to do something to help.’ Earlier this month Wynne starred in a televised concert from St. Davids hall in February which you can see by clicking  here. Wynne Sings the Mario Lanza classic, The Lords Prayer.

Someone has asked in the Daily Express what recordings Wynne has on sale. Wynne has recorded three CDs with the RPO as part of their ‘Here Come The Classics’ range.

BBC Radio Wales

Last night saw the first in a new series presented by Wynne and his brother Mark Called ‘Sibling Rivalry’. Each week Wynne and Mark will interview siblings who work within the same industry. Wynne said ‘The series was great fun to make chatting with people from all walks of life and sharing their experiences with us. It is so interesting as Mark is also an opera singer, so we can understand the ups and downs of the situation’ If you want to listen to programme one again then please click here. Happy New Year

Wynne would like to wish all of you a Happy New Year! Earlier this week he said “2009 has been the most amazing year for me withDebutsat The Royal Opera House and Glyndebourne as well as return opera performances with Welsh National Opera and Grange Park. 2009 also saw the beginning of a fantastic relationship with GoCompare.com which has been tremendous fun! ” 2010 looks busier for Wynne starting with a return to Welsh National Opera then a new recording for Chandos, Performances in Italy, 5 Days at The Royal Albert Hall, 2 Operas at Grange Park, numerous outdoor concerts and finishing the year back at Welsh National Opera. He added “ I’m really looking forward to a busy year. I hope lots of people who visit my web site will come and see me sing and come and say hi. Best Wishes to you all and Happy New Year!”

Royal Opera Debut

Wynnemade his Royal Opera House debut on the 27th November 2009 singing the main tenor role of Vakula in Francesca Zambella’s new production of Tsarians Slippers. Wynne said ‘ This year has been the most amazing year for me with everything that’s happened and now to make my ROH debut has really been the icing on the cake’ he added ‘Covent Garden is what every singer dreams of and to be standing in the middle of the most famous opera stage in the world where thousands of great singers have stood before, and singing a major role has been a a dream come true’.

Wynne has become the star of a new multi million pound advertising campaign for Gocompare.com playing the flamboyant opera singer Gio Compario. Wynne says “ I was delighted to be involved with this campaign from day one. The character is the creation of Chris and Sian Wilkins who have brought us some of the greatest advertising campaigns ever and this one is sure to be memorable, my children are already singing it all the time!” Wynne added ” The whole Gocompare.com team have been brilliant to work with and have made me feel part of their family. The fact that they are a Welsh company was a massive bonus. Shan Cothi Show

Wynne will be on the Shan Cothi show tonight on S4C. ‘We had a lovely day filming’ said Wynne ‘So nice to work with Shan and as usual we had a real laugh!’. Elizabeth Evans Trust Opera Gala

Wynne is delighted to be involved in an opera gala in aid of  his late mothers charity The Elizabeth Evans Trust www.theelizabethevanstrust.co.ukThe event will take place at St Fagans National History Museum of Wales in Cardiff on sunday July 12th 2009. Other singers will include Rebecca Evans, Gwyn Hughes Jones, David Kempster and Wynne’s brother Mark. Ariadne Auf  Naxos

Wynne is very pleased to be involved with the new ChandosRecording of Ariadne Auf Naxos with Sir Charles Mackerras. The CD will be recorded in early 2010 and will be released later that year.

Die Enfurung at WNO

We are delighted to announce that Wynne will sing Pedrillo in 2010. BAFTA Nominations

The concert that Wynne produced and organised as a tribute to Dennis O’Neill, which was screened on S4C over Christmas has been Nominated for two Welsh BAFTAs. Wynne said “I’m delighted that the programe has gained the recognition that it deserved. Hefin Owen and Opus/Rondo Television produced a really classy programme.” he added “The operatic community gave their services freely and is tribute to them that we produced a programme that has been nominated in the ‘Best Music Programme’ category”. The programme has also been nominated for best lighting design. The Awards Ceremony takes place on Sunday at the WMC.

Royal Recognition

Her Majesty the Queen, the Sovereign Head of hte Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem has generously bestowed upon Wynne admission into the order as a Member of the Order of St. John. Wynne has worked over many years for various charities raising money and promoting Welsh Singers at the same time. The last concert he organised in November 2007 raised over £40,000 for St. John Cymru Wales, and a previous one in 2005 raised £40,000 for the Teenage Cancer Trust. Wynne said ‘I’m delighted that Her Majesty the Queen has given me this honour and I am extreamly proud, not only for myself but also for the operatic community who have been so generous with their time and talents.’ along with Wynne, Dennis O’Neill was made an Officer of the Order. Another Busy Summer!

This Summer looks like being as hectic as last years for Wynne withoutdoorconcerts confirmed in both the UK and Sweden. Wynne will once again work withConductorJaeAlexander in the most prestigious outdoor concert in the UK. La Boheme One Last Time At WNO

Wynne is looking forward to singing the role of Rodolfo in La Boheme when it returns to WNO in 2008. WNO will be performing in the Javerfelt production one last time having been a company faithful production for over 30 years. ‘I have been involved with this production on 5 or 6 occasions so it will be extra special to be involved in the last revival’

Grange Park Opera

Wynne is delighted to announce that he will be performing at Grange Park Opera this summer in the Puccini opera La Fanciulla Del West it will be the first of three years that Wynne will be at Grange Park, in 2009 he will visit an old role for him, and sing the School Master In Cunning Little Vixen and in 2010 he will sing in the Prokofiev masterpiece The Love of Three Oranges.

Wales Vs South Africa

The whole of Wales will be getting behind their rugby teamnext saturday when they face the ultimate test and take on the new world champions, SouthAfrica. Wynnehas been asked to add his voice to the proceedings and sing both pre match and at half time. ‘I am delighted to continue my long association withtheWRUand look forward both to the Prince William Cup and of course next years six nations. Singing at the Millennium Stadium before internationals is of course the best job in the world and I’m proud to have sung at mor than 20 internationals…….come on the boys!’

General Motors Style Event

Wynne is thrilled to be involved with the GM Style event in Dubai. ‘It’s such a huge event, and set in the fabulous Jumeriah Complex. Wynne will be one of the Celebrities in a parade called Stars and their Cars. This will be my first trip to Dubai and I’m really excited about it’ The event will also include Supermodel Rachel Hunter. Other Celebrities include Egyptian superstar Yousra, Ramadan TV series top star Milad Yousef, glamorous actress Sulaf Fawakherji, Music super star Ragheb Alama, Waad, Yuri Mrakadi and Ruwaida, actors Tamer Hagras, Dalia El Behery, singers Rola Saad, Karl Wolf and UAE rapper Kaz Money. Wynne added ‘this is truly an international event and being the only european on stage is a great honour, plus as a Saab owner I get to see what they have in store for the future!’

Dennis O’Neill Tribute

Wynne is proud to have been asked to Produce and Direct a tribute to Dennis O’Neill at the Wales Millenium Centre on the 25th November 2007. ‘It’s a bit of a mamouth task, but having done something similar a couple of years ago for the teenage cancer trust I can hopefully learn from the mistakes I made then! I’m delighted to have been asked as Dennis has not only been my teacher and friend for many years but is also my singing inspiration. Swedish TV

You can see Wynne on TV4 in Sweden on the 17th September. He will feature in Rhapsody In Rock that was recorded earlier in the summer at Waxholm.

Salome

We are delighted to announce that Wynne will sing in the new recording of Salome for Chandos conducted by Sir Charles Mackerras. ‘I’m really looking forward to working withSir Charles again, I last worked withhim on cunning Little Vixen at WNO and he has such an understanding of music it’s a phenomenal experience’. Salome will be recorded in December and watch the web site for the release date.

BBC Radio Wales

Wynne and his Baritone brother Mark Evans will be presenting the Shan Cothi show on BBC Radio Wales for the next 4 weeks. ‘We’ve already recorded the first one withguests Paul Charles Clarke and Nuccia Focile, which was great fun’. Other guests over the next month will include Wynne’s Sister In-Law, Eos Chater, violinist from the string quartet ‘Bond’ and Director of the National Opera Studio Donald Maxwell. Tune into BBC Radio Wales between 18:00 and 20:00 hrs every Sunday evening.

Otello

Wynne has been confirmed for the role of Cassio in Otello for Welsh National Opera in the autumn of 2008.

“This is such an exciting opera to be involved in, as I’m not sure I’ll ever have the voice for the tile role, so this is about as close as I’ll get! It’s a particularly exciting project for me as it will be the first time I’ll actually get to share the operatic stage with my friend and teacher Dennis O’Neill. He was the first person I emailed when I was confirmed, and he was as thrilled as I was, so it should be a real laugh…..if Otello can be funny?”

Summer 2007

We’re excited to announce that Wynne has been asked to take part in the Swedish star – Robert Wells’ – ‘Rhapsody In Rock’ summer tour. Wynne will also continue to perform in outdoor concerts throughout the UK during the same period, something which he has enjoyed doing for the past five years.

Wynne said “Going back to Sweden and working with Robert again is a fantastic opportunity, it’s such a wonderful country and Robert, his orchestra and the other performaers really make me feel at home. The really lovely thing is that I can fly back to the UK every Saturday morning and keep performing at outdoor concerts here. Robert and his band are even coming to perform at two of the concerts at Duxford and in the wonderful setting of Castle Howard.”

New Management

We are delighted to announce that Chris Broom at Athole Still International will now look after all of Wynne’s opera and classical concert work

Christopher Broom is the Director of Opera at Athole Still International. He graduated from York University (Music BA) and completed postgraduate studies as a repetiteur at the Guildhall School of Music, London. After working as a freelance – notably with the English Bach Festival – was then engaged as a repetiteur at the Wurzburg Opera, Germany and subsequently with the Lyon Opera. Joined ASI in 1995

Wynne said ” this is really exciting news, Chris has been a really good friend since we met at the Guildhall, and I know he’s one of the most respected Managers in Europe. Because of his experience as a repetiteur his knowledge of the repertoire and understanding of the voice is second to none.”
